Outsourcing Is A Blessing

Hello,

After hiring overseas workers for more than a decade, here’s how I view outsourcing:

  • Outsourcing is a blessing to America.

  • Outsourcing is an opportunity we can leverage.

  • Outsourcing is a chance to serve the greater world.

People often view outsourcing negatively in terms of its impact on the U.S. job market and economy, but in fact, a lot of the money the United States spends on outsourcing winds up coming back to the country in some capacity. One McKinsey report estimated that for every $1.47 spent for offshoring, the US captures $1.14—or 78 percent of the total value.

There isn’t a clear, direct correlation between outsourcing and unemployment. More overseas workers don’t mean fewer employed Americans. In fact, as more and more U.S. companies are turning to outsourcing, the number of employed Americans in late 2022 (more than 164 million) was still in line with the highest levels in U.S. history.

Additionally, the suggestion that job growth overseas reduces demand for higher-skilled jobs in the United States isn’t supported by hard evidence. As economist Tobias Sytsma wrote in an October 2022 essay about the globalization of remote work for Rand Corporation, “most empirical analyses find that service offshoring increases the demand for high-skilled workers in the domestic economy. In other words, offshoring higher-skilled jobs and tasks improves the employment opportunities for domestic higher-skilled workers.”

If you’re a small business owner, there are hats that you should not be wearing. You either don’t have the time or energy to tackle every task. And to spend $500 a month to hire somebody overseas that can dedicate eight hours a day, full-time effort toward your business is a massive benefit.

My Filipino workers have helped my company thrive, and their efforts in turn have helped other American companies to grow their influence and share their powerful messages with the world.

It’s been so meaningful to provide livelihoods for families and allow them to grow and progress and learn and have stability. At the same time, it’s such a huge blessing to me and to all of my clients, because I can offer services that wouldn’t otherwise be available at the same price points.

It’s a win-win-win situation — a win for you, for your customers, and for your overseas workers. And it has been the X-factor that transformed my company.

You’re Welcome!

Nate
